I have located (2) of the (3) bolts but can't seem to even see where the third would be located or accessed through! Anybody have tips on how to get to that third bolt? Doing a clutch swap and decided to begin with the starter. If I can get that off, the rest should be a breeze.

BTW this car has the Bassani Mid Lenghts if that helps.

Thanks in advance for your help

This is a pain in the ass for sure. It is located directly on top of the starter and is accessed through infront of the engine. Basically, you are going to need a 6" extension with the socket on the end, a wobble and an 18" extension too. I did it with Hooker Long Tubes. Then I decided that 2 bolts was enough...

Was this on a '03-'04 Cobra? We were working on it and decided to just try it out another day. We were able to located the 3rd bolt by feel but could not get the extension to reach the bolt in the correct angle. Is there a trick or something that can be removed to get a better path for the extensions?

No, it was on my 99 Cobra. No difference. The main difference is you have mid-lengths and I have long tubes, which would mean that I have more room than you. I know I have to take the starter out to mess with the passenger side header anyway so I am curious how you got the mids on with the starter in there.

but you need like a 3 FT extension, with multiple wobbles at the buisiness end not just an 18 incher. Don't put put it back on, the bottom two hold it fine and if your starter fails on the road or at the track you will have a chance to get it off, otherwise tow it to a lift.

I can get it with 2 8" extensions and one wobble

You just have to know the right angle to go through the K-member to get to it...I've had my starter out about 6 times and it takes no time to get that bolt in and out now...Might help that I have Flex Armstrong hands and arms to get up in there but still...

The mid lenghts were installed by HCI. The '04 is my buddy's and needs a new clutch and I've done my tranny a few times with no trouble so I figured that it could be done the same.

The mids do get in the way and we are not able to feel the extension all the way through. We'll try it soon and maybe try and loosen the mid lenght a bit. Thanks for the suggestions.
