Does a cowl hood help with under hood temps?

I have been doing some research on hoods trying to find one that might help keep under hood temps down a bit in florida. On say like a cobra R hood on the rear of the hood next to the windshield wiper tray is there a gap that lets the heat escape? Can you see into the engine bay from the inside of the car? Does the heat extraction hood let more heat out then a cowl hood?

Thanks.

You can't really see the engine bay, but yes, it makes a big difference in letting heat out. Last fall when I was living in Chicago, I could go for long drive, pull into the garage and pop the hood. I would put my hand on the upper intake and it would be cool. I could never do that with the stock hood.

a cowl hood does help, but in reality, it sucks air through the cowl....the effect is still the same, but it is not an exhaust port, if you will
if you could put your car in a wind tunnel, you'll see what I mean.
they do help with under hood temps, as well as running anything other than chrome headers
