The first one was a summit one that I routed incorrectly, and this second one was a BBK one. I had a feeling that the cable was acting wierd so this is no supprise but it still sucks.

I want to buy a good cable this time but Im split between the Maximum Motorsports cable and the OEM Ford one.

Thoughts please....

BTW, Im going to buy a new quadrant too just to eliminate other possible issues; I already have a firewall adjuster too. Im also running a Fox style bellhousing so I want to be sure I get the RIGHT cable.

Are you running a fox length clutch fork? If not, the holes don't line up and there will be binding in the cable.

I would personally go with an OEM ford cable, but I've heard the Maximum Motorsports one is good also.

MM's cable IS an oem cable. So get either one. However, I'm quite positive the MM unit is MUCH MUCH cheaper than the dealer!

Well luckily I found a nice stock cable a while back and it's worked out flawlessly. I too have had way too many aftermarket "adjustable" cables snap at the worse possible times!

I'm still on the factory stock cable, even with the McCleod SFI bell, SPEC stage 3 clutch, and TKO600 setup (basically a fox style tranny setup).

Yes I am using a fox clutch fork with the fox bellhousing. (i didnt know you could mix the sn95 fork with the fox bell)

I am going to buy the MM cable and quad kit. Im going to replace it all and be done with it!

If you go the MM site, youll see that they ONLY use OEM FORD CABLES. Like everybody says, OEM is the best.

I beleive MM uses an OEM cluth cable, but not specific to a certain year of mustang. Thats why they say you have to use some sort of adjuster or aftermarket quardrant with the cable.

This may be the reason they can get it for cheap, it may be from a v6f150, but its still an OEM ford piece that will fit your mustang.

I installed the MM cable kit and it feels AMAZING!

I found that the problem I was having was due because of quadrant alignment. The cable was binding on my UPR triple hook and not riding in the "notch" it was suppose to. This caused the cable to break half of the cords right under the dash.
The MM kit comes with washers to space the quadrant in the right location in relation to firewall opening. It feels like butter now! (just a lil stiff though, the Zoom pressure plate is quite strong)

I am having one issue though, occasionally I will get a popping noise from the cable. It sound like it is releasing from a bind somewhere but i cant pip point it. It only happens once in a while; I had my friend depress the clutch a few times while I looked for the noise but the cable decided not to do it that time.
Anyone ever have this problem too?

ive seen quite a few cables get hung up on the firewall adjuster.if you notice, the hole in the firewall is a tad higher than the cable pick-up point at the quadrant.if you screw the firewall adjuster in enough,it will eventually intersect the cables path and start rubbing.then...POP!!
