Is anyone using the AFR Enforcer heads? I was looking at rebuilding some GT40 3 bar heads but the price of the enforcers have got me thinking. I understand they are off shore castings with the renegade valve train but being AFR wouldn’t the quality be good? I have seen several write ups but no first hand experience. Thanks in advance.

I dont have experience with the heads but from digging around the only issue that was repeated... the springs need an upgrade if you want to run a big cam. But that's just from reading every review I could find.

I've done up quite a few sets of them.

They are the "AFR" rendition of the cloned DART Pro 1 import castings.

Casting is very nice and they respond well to some bowl work and minor porting but then that labor cost will approach the cost of the fully CNC ported Renegade heads.

The AFR version do feature much better valvetrain than all the other DART clones in that they have lightweight 8mm stem valves, as well as their small diameter, LS style, PAC Racing dual valve springs.

All I can say is you better call ford strokers. I just looked at tre perfromance on sale prices. Jim And Nichole will get you a better head for a few bucks more. I just bought one.

Wow! I appreciate all the feedback. These have to be a better option than a GT40 head straight out of the box.
On a side note, I wonder why the Dart Pro 1 was chosen to be the head to clone by the off shore manufacturers.

I've been wondering this myself... I'd love to know the answer. You'd think the off shore manufacturers would clone something a bit better. The Dart Pro 1 knock-off castings that I bought a while back flow like pop, my older, worked over E7s flow better!

Then you bought the GT40 copies, not the DART...

The People's Republic of China copied a lot of American cylinder heads.

You/re not going to get 220 flow numbers from a Enforcer.

You're buying price, not power.
I know, if I had something that could use a 220, I wouldn't be skimping on heads. Was more interested in how much the 185 picked up with bowl work.

I guess the question is what would be a better head to copy?

The AFR and TW 11R heads are cnc ported which adds another step and cost to the process. When you are going for cheap you probably want to do as cast heads instead of cnc ported. So there are the high port heads, but those need special headers and their reputation as a killer head is mostly after being ported, not in the as cast configuration. So those interested in cheap Chinese heads probably don't want heads that need special headers and porting. There are plenty of heads that aren't better, any Ford Motorsports head is worse, the Edelbrock Performer head isn't any better, the Brodix ST 5.0 is no better, nothing World products is better, the TW fast as cast heads are perhaps slightly better but not leaps and bounds. The really good heads, Higgins, Yates D3, GV2, etc... need special intakes and really aren't suitable for the average budget engine and probably won't be good enough to make the money is no object guy pick them over the real deal.

Average guy using logical thinking.
Probably can make some gains on intake.
I wanted little more out of ex . So I did little more than bowl work on ex.

They'd probably be relatively easy to get into the 290 cfm ballpark. The major limiting factor beyond that is most likely valve size. Getting over 300 real cfm out of a 2.02 valve SBF head isn't easy. Ask me how I know.

I know, I did an AFR 165, and an Edelbrock Performer, both with 2.02 valves, and both just broke 290 on a tight bench, so close but so far. :p
